"In 2024 I made the hard decision to leave a 12-year career in education, at a school where I had built a second family, in a quest to find a role that would better fit with my two small children.
I decided to put off looking for another position until after the summer holidays and was reassured by my family that, “something will find you”. If by magic, whilst enjoying a local festival, I bumped into Carolyn. It just so happened she was looking to expand Bluebell and asked whether I would be interested in joining the team!
One morning I went along to Bluebell HQ to meet with Carolyn to find out more about
Bluebell’s services and values and to discuss how I may be able to add further value to
the team. It didn’t take long to realise Bluebell was just what I was looking for. Carolyn
appreciated the skill set I had developed as a Deputy Headteacher but could also
empathise with my desire to take a step back and spend more time with my children. I
was fortunate to be able to spend a few months at home enjoying the lead up to
Christmas before joining Bluebell in January 2025.
I was a little nervous on my first day, despite knowing Carolyn for several years and
meeting the rest of the team at the Bluebell Christmas Party. However, I was soon put at
ease as Carolyn warmly welcomed me to Bluebell HQ and we got going with my ‘induction’ (accompanied by a nice cup of tea of course).
Carolyn, Emily and Rose thought of every little detail to ensure that I felt welcomed and one of the team. Carolyn had a well thought out list of tasks for me to complete to familiarise myself with key aspects of the business whilst having the time to ask questions and get to grips with a different way of working. One of the biggest challenges was not having the school bell to help with timekeeping, but a bonus was having the time to take a lunchbreak!
Some of my first tasks were to read our social media posts on Facebook, update
LinkedIn, write an article for Leading Ladies and get to know some of our clients through
the work the team were currently undertaking, e.g. shadowing applications for Lasting
Powers of Attorney, Attendance Allowances and the work undertaken as part of our
I soon began to appreciate the time and care that the whole team put in to delivering an excellent service. Carolyn’s care and attention permeates every aspect of the business.
I am extremely fortunate to be given such an amazing opportunity in joining Bluebell and look forward to the continued support and guidance from Carolyn, Emily and Rose."
